Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar has awarded 88 points to three Argento wines.

Argento Reserva Malbec 2009, Mendoza – 88 points
“Ruby-red. Black cherry and licorice aromas and flavors are riper than those of the basic 2009 malbec. Sweet, juicy and fine-grained, with nicely integrated acidity and supple tannins giving the wine a harmonious character. A moderately dense midweight with supple tannins and decent length.”

Argento Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, Mendoza – 88 points
“Good saturated deep red. Aromas of dark raspberry, plum, black cherry, chocolate and spicy oak. Sweet and dense, with an edge of acidity providing shape to the currant and licorice flavors. Dusty tannins spread out on the finish. There’s some chocolatey oak on the back, but this wine is much less dried by its wood element than the basic 2009 cabernet bottling.”

Argento Pinot Grigio 2010, Mendoza – 88 points
“Pale yellow. Bright aromas of orange peel, pepper and spices, with a hint of minerality. Juicy and refreshing, with crisp acidity and spicy minerality lifting the citrus and floral flavors. A rather cool style, with noteworthy intensity. Very good pinot grigio.”
